Community Involvement
Heart Reviver Providers
According to the American Heart
Association, more than 250,000
people in America die each year
from sudden cardiac arrest. This
alarming statistic prompted Cintas
to take action to help address
this national emergency. The question
was, how?
In order to boost national efforts
to address the emergency, Cintas
created the Reviver Provider Police
Grant Program to get lifesaving
AED (automated external defibrillator)
technology into the hands of trained
officers, often the first to respond
to a cardiac emergency. AEDs are
computer-driven medical devices
that deliver an electric shock
through the chest wall to the heart.
As part of program, Cintas will
award free AEDs, and associated
AED training from the American
Heart Association, to police departments
each quarter through 2006. By following
up with each grant winner, Cintas
will be able to provide the American
Heart Association with valuable
data regarding AED deployment and
effectiveness in rural and urban
communities.
Waukegan, Illinois Mayor Richard
Hyde accepted the first grant award
on behalf of the city’s police
department. “I’d like
to thank Cintas for their commitment
to helping law enforcement and
communities respond to cardiac
emergencies with these lifesaving
devices.”
Through the grant program, Cintas
is able to make a lifesaving difference
in communities around the country.
In addition, the company is currently
outfitting all of its distribution,
manufacturing, and production facilities
across North America with AEDs.
At Cintas, we also pride ourselves
on our proactive approach to employee-partner
safety. According to 2003 statistics,
Cintas' safety record is 34% better
than similar sized facilities in
the laundry industry.
